When everyone comes to you
Being dependable should not mean carrying everything alone.
If you are usually the listener, organiser or calm one, asking for space can feel unfamiliar. JOS offers a private conversation where you do not have to reassure anyone, soften the truth or prove that your situation is serious enough.
Name what is happening
The strong-friend role can look like
- 01
checking on everyone else while avoiding the question of how you are
- 02
waiting until you are exhausted before admitting that something is heavy
- 03
having people around you but no conversation that feels fully yours
A conversation, not a questionnaire
JOS can make the conversation yours for once
A useful place to begin: Just listen
- Choose Just listen and say what you have been holding without being rushed toward a solution.
- Ask for clarity only when you want it; listening does not have to become advice.
- Save the conversation as a private Diary chapter if you want to return, while future memory remains a separate choice.
Start in your own words
You could begin like this.
“Everyone sees me as the strong friend, but I am tired.”
“I do not need to fix this yet. I need somewhere that can stay with me while I say it.”
